Marquee Set Up & Safety

Marquee Tips

Your marquee is your shelter and shopfront. It must be safe and secure at all times.

  • Set up on flat ground where possible
  • Attach at least 20kg of weight to each leg
  • Use proper sandbags, weight plates or water weights (not loose bricks/rocks)
  • Avoid guide ropes across walkways where people might trip
  • Check all clips and joints are locked in place
  • If conditions become unsafe (high winds, storms), you may be asked to lower your marquee or pack down. Safety always comes first.

Bump-In: Arriving and Unloading

Good bump-in planning makes for a calmer start to the day.

  • Check your stall number and area on the site map
  • Pack your car so items you need first are easiest to access
  • Bring a trolley if you have one – it saves time and effort

  • Follow the instructions provided in your bump-in email
  • Use hazard lights and drive slowly through the site
  • Park, unload quickly at your stall, then move your car to the designated parking area
  • Set up your marquee and tables before unpacking smaller items

Bump-Out: Packing Down & Heading Home

At the End of the Market

Bump-out usually feels faster when you have a simple routine.


  • Pack away products and displays before taking down your marquee
  • Check the ground and surrounding area for rubbish or forgotten items
  • Only bring your vehicle back onto the site once it is safe and allowed
  • Load your vehicle, then do a final walk-around of your stall area


Leaving your site clean helps us keep the space welcoming and makes it easier to run future events.
